Definition of Menstruation
Medically, the state of menstruation is a natural process experienced by every woman, that is the whole process of bleeding caused by uterine wall as a result of the absence of fertilization. This process generally
occurs when women age 10-12 years. Process coupled with state menstrual blood discharge from the female genitals. Where this natural process occurs on average around for 2 days to 8 days. The blood that came out with an average of between 10ml to 80ml range per day. The normal menstrual cycle is an average of 21-35 days.

Menstrual bleeding in women is a womb that are physiologic (normal), as a result of hormonal changes in estrogen and progesterone. Menstruation can be a sign that a woman had entered the fertile period. Because of the physiological, menstruation signify that the waste that has been cooked egg. Menstruation is part of the process of preparing a woman's body for pregnancy each month.

Menstrual cycle
Length of menstrual cycle start date is within the last menstruation and subsequent menstrual onset. The first day of bleeding is calculated as the beginning of each menstrual cycle (day 1), the cycle ends right before the next menstrual cycle. Menstrual cycle ranges from 21-40 days, only 10-15% of women who have a 28-day cycle. But the variation is quite widespread, not only among women but also some of the same woman, even brothers and twin sister. The distance between the longest cycle usually occurs shortly after menarche (onset of menstruation) and just before menopause (cessation of menstruation).
Duration of menstruation is usually between 3-5 days, there are 1-2 days of blood followed a little later there are 7-8 days. Amount of blood loss on average + 16 cc, the older women more blood coming out as well as anemic women.
At first, the cycle may be irregular, the distance between the 2 cycles can last for 2 months or in 1 month 2 cycles may occur. This is normal, after a long cycle will become more regular. After several months can be known pattern of the menstrual cycle, and this will help in estimating the cycle to come. Each month, after the 5th day of the menstrual cycle, the endometrium starts to grow and thicken in preparation for the possibility of pregnancy. Around day 14, the release of an egg from the ovary (ovulation). This egg into the fallopian tube and one in the tube fertilization can occur by a sperm. If fertilization occurs, the egg will be entered into the uterus and begin to grow into a fetus.
At about day 28, if fertilization does not occur the endometrium is shed and bleeding (day 1 menstrual cycle). The bleeding lasts for 3-5 days sometimes up to 7 days. Process of growth and thickening of the endometrium and then starts again at the next cycle.
