Menstrual Disorders "Oligomenorea"

Definition
Oligomenorea  is a condition in which the menstrual cycle extends over 35 days, while the number of bleeding remains the same. Women who experience menstrual Oligomenorea will experience a more sparse than usual. However, if the cessation of the menstrual cycle lasts more than 3 months, the condition is known as secondary Amenorea.

Cause
Oligomenorea usually occurs due to hormonal imbalance in the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian. The hormone disorder causing abnormal menstrual cycle length become elongated, so that periods become less frequent. Oligomenorea often occurs in the first 3-5 years after the first period or a few years before menopause. Oligomenorea that happened in those days was a normal variation that occurs due to lack of good coordination between the hypothalamus, pituitary and ovary at the onset of menarche and before menopause, causing a disruption in the body's hormonal balance. In addition, Oligomenorea may also occur on:

Definition
When a woman has a menstrual cycle more frequently (shorter menstrual cycles of 21 days), it is known as polimenorea. Women with menstrual polimenorea will experience up to two times or more in a month, with a regular pattern and amount of bleeding is relatively the same or more than usual.
Polimenorea must be distinguished from metroragia. Metroragia an irregular bleeding that occurs between menstrual period. At metroragia, menstruation occurs in a shorter time with less blood ejected.

Cause
